Press Release: Kingsville Independence Day Parade

(Kingsville, MD - May 30, 2012) The Greater Kingsville Civic Association, Inc. and The Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company will sponsor our 32nd consecutive year of the Kingsville Independence Day Parade. Pre-parade music and celebration, sponsored by PNC Bank and Kingsville Market, commences 10:a.m. Wednesday, July 4th at the Judges viewing stand.

A fun-filled hour of entertainment features Buttons the Clown, Baltimore City Pipe Band, Upper Falls Dance Academy, Zumba Dance, a special appearance by Benjamin Franklin as interpreted by David Fisher and Ann Palrang, Soloist. The parade will kick off 10:50 a.m. at the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company on Bellvue Avenue (formation starting 9:30 a.m.) proceed down Bradshaw Road to Jerusalem Road and finish at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

As usual…there will be NO RAIN DATE. Bradshaw and Jerusalem Roads will be closed at 9:50 a.m. Opening ceremonies will be held at the Judges viewing stand 11:00 a.m. presided by Bruce McCubbin, Master of Ceremonies, with Mrs. Christina Massimei, performing our national anthem along with John Carroll High School Band led by Mark Bouldin. Trophy awards will be made at the July 18th meeting of the GKCA in the following categories:

1 - Marching Units
2 - Band/Musical Entry
3 - Antique Vehicles
4 - Equestrian (Individual)
5 - Equestrian (Group)
6 - Family, Group or Individual Entry
7 - Young Set (Age 12 & under)
8 - Commercial Entries or Floats
9 - Non-Commercial Floats
10 - Fire Apparatus

Our lineup of bands from Westminster Municipal, John Carroll High School, Baltimore City Pipe Band, Havre de Grace High School, Patterson Mill High School, Edgewood High School, Joppatowne High School, C. Milton Wright High School and Fallston High School along with many exciting entries will participate in the spirit of this year's theme: "From Sea to Shining Sea, We Celebrate Freedom."

Team APG Color Guard will enjoy an evening with the Ironbirds in Aberdeen, sponsored by Daves Tag and Title Service, Petes Pickins and Thrivent Financial. Judges Awards include: BEST INTERPRETATION OF THEME – 1st $150; 2nd $100 and 3rd $50; 11th Annual Mary Frances Sheppard Award for BEST ENTRY IN THE PARADE - $150 and Melvin C. Neuman Award under the fire apparatus – BEST APPEARING COMPANY IN PARADE. The 2nd Annual BUD HUSON AMERICAN PRIDE AWARD for the best band/musical entry in the parade. Eleanor Huson, a long time resident of Kingsville, is the 2012 Grand Marshal.

This year's theme winner of a $100 Savings Bond is Talia Maria, a 1st grade student from St. Stephen School. Cadets of the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Department will participate in the free-will offering on July 4th .

Donations will benefit the building fund of the anticipated expansion and renewal of the existing facilities in the Spring of 2013.
